St. Matthew Lutheran Women’s Missionary League will collect socks for the Lambert Community Drop-In Center during February.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the church between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Sundays.

The church is at 13880 Joshua Way in East Sonora.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Tuolumne County will hold its annual Chocolate Lovers’ Hoedown Friday, Feb. 8, at the Sonora Elks Lodge, 100 Elk Drive in Sonora.

A live auction will include chocolate goodies and other items suitable for Valentine’s Day gifts. Sauces by Chef Dave will be available for purchase.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., and the $35 per person cost will include a catered buffet dinner and appetizers.

The First Congregational Church in Murphys will hold its eighth annual Heavenly Chocolate Festival Saturday, Feb. 9 at the church.

The festival will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and will offer unlimited tasting of about 70 different chocolate creations and an opportunity to buy them. Wine tasting also will be offered

Tickets cost $12 per person.

The church is at the corner of Church and Algiers streets, one block from the Murphys Hotel.

The Sonora United Methodist Church holds candlelight, meditative services based on the Taize worship model on the second and fourth Thursday evenings. This month’s services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and 28.

Taizé worship service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence and spiritual readings. There is no preaching.

The church is at 90 Yaney Ave., in Sonora, diagonally across the street from the Tuolumne County Courthouse. Parking is behind the church on Upper Sunset Avenue.
