Gala will support art, music programsat Curtis Creek
An event to support the art and music programs at Curtis Creek Elementary School will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, in downtown Sonora.
The event, the Curtis Creek Black and White Gala, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sonora Opera Hall, 250 S. Washington St., in Sonora.
Funds raised will go toward art education and lesson curriculum, music classes and band instruments and will benefit all grades schoolwide.
Cost for the event is $40 per person and includes dinner, entertainment and an auction.

League of Women Voters meets Feb. 2
The Mother Lode League of Women Voters will meet Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Sonora Fire Department, 201 S. Shepherd St., in Sonora.
The meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to anyone, regardless of political party, and is strictly non-partisan.
Participants will discuss ways to become more involved in community issues.
MLAJA to hold annual dinner, auction Feb. 3
Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy will hold its annual Dinner and Auction Feb. 3 at the school, 80 N. Forest Road in Sonora.

Roundup queen candidates sought
for 2019 contest
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse is seeking young women to compete for the 2019 Mother Lode Roundup Queen crown.
An orientation for contestants will be held at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse grounds on Rawhide Road in Jamestown. An official Mother Lode Roundup kickoff event will be held Feb. 10.
Queen contestants must be 16 to 24 years old.
The Mother Lode Roundup will be held Mother’s Day Weekend, May 11 and 12, in Sonora.

Pack club to host fundraising dinner
Emigrant Basin Pack and Social Club will hold its 18th annual Scholarship Dinner Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Sonora Elks Lodge.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. Dinner will include barrel-roasted pork, pesto pasta, salad, beans and garlic bread.
Tickets cost $25 per person, and 100 percent of proceeds will be returned to the community.
Dinner will be followed by live country music by The Mountain Fever Band with Keith Keenom.
