The Mother Lode Bonsai Club will host its fourth annual show and exhibit Sept. 22 at the Calaveras County Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road in San Andreas.

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend, and there are no fees for admission or parking.

The club’s annual show is the members’ biggest event of the year. The essential goal of bonsai is transforming a growing specimen into a miniature living sculpture, aged by natural elements.

Along with dozens of member trees on exhibit, a bonsai demonstration will take place at 1 p.m. A drawing for a featured tree will be conducted after the demo. Additionally, trees, pots and related bonsai items will be available for sale.

Club members come from Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, as well as the Central Valley.
