St. Matthew Lutheran Church will host vacation Bible school Monday through July 29 at the church, 13880 Joshua Way in East Sonora.

School will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The theme is “Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity.” The week we will focus on stories from the book of Daniel, including the fiery furnace and Daniel in the lion’s den. Each day they will focus on a new theme.

All children from kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome.

Over the next few months, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Tuolumne County will explore each of the seven principles and six sources of faith that form the backbone of Unitarian Universalism.

Members will explore each of the seven principles on the first Sunday of each month and each of the six sources of faith on the third Sunday.

The group will meet at 10 a.m. Sunday under the oaks at its Fellowship House, 19518 Hess Ave., in East Sonora.

Rabbi Andra Greenwald of the Mother Lode Jewish Community will kick off the monthly series with the exploration of Principle 1, the inherent worth and dignity of every person. Titled “Just One Life: What’s it Worth?” the talk will focus on how every life has value and makes a difference.

Rabbi Greenwald is originally from Brooklyn, New York, is the rabbi of the Mother Lode Jewish Community and is also a licensed clinical social worker. She is on the board of Modesto’s InterFaith Ministries and has spoken on many occasions.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship meets in Sonora on the first and third Sundays and in Douglas Flat on the second the fourth Sundays. All are welcome.

A Catholic Men’s Fellowship Fall Retreat will be held Aug. 17 through 19 at Old Oak Ranch in the Sonora area.

The event’s theme is “The Seven Virtues Perfect our Seven Principals.” Catholic evangelist Stephen Valgos will facilitate the retreat.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. Aug. 17 and end at noon Aug. 19.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Angels Camp will hold its annual Corvette Raffle and Parish Festival Sept. 9 at the church, 820 S. Main St., in Angels Camp.

The festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m., and the prize drawing will be held at 4 p.m. The festival will include children’s games, international food and drink and live music performed by the Rusty Rockers.

There is no cost to attend the festival. Raffle tickets cost $100 each, and a minimum of 700 must be sold. Taxes, fees and license costs are not included.
