Father’s Day Fly-In touches down at Columbia Airport


Union Democrat The Bay Bombers presented an aerial demonstration during a previous Father’s Day Fly-In.

The 52nd annual Father’s Day Fly-In — set for Saturday and Sunday at Columbia Airport — features aerial demonstrations, airplane rides, vendors, live music, food, and more. Free parking will be available at Columbia Elementary School with a shuttle to the airport gate.

The event opens at 8 a.m. each day. Admission is $5 per person and children 12 and younger are free. Boy Scout Troop 570 will serve its annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. both days at the airport’s campground pavilion. Cost is $8 per person.

Those include Springfield Flying Service giving Cessna 172 rides for up to three passengers for $45 per person and rides in a Boeing Stearman for $100 (or $85 for fathers) along with the American Aeronautical Foundation offering rides in a World War II-era B-25J Mitchell Bomber for $425 per person.

On Saturday only, each paid admission will receive a free raffle ticket. All tickets will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a Stearman or B-25 ride.
