Open Garden Days

Master Gardener program volunteers in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties are planning 2018 Open Garden days.

Master Gardeners of Tuolumne County will host the first Open Garden Day of the year on Feb. 3. Topics at the free instructional day will include fruit tree pruning and soil preparation for spring vegetable planting.

The garden, 251 S. Barretta St., in Sonora, on the Cassina High School campus, will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and activities will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The next Open Garden Day will be held March 3. Topics will include grapevine pruning, seed-starting for summer gardens, spring vegetable planting and rose pruning.

Master Gardeners of Calaveras County will open the demonstration garden in San Andreas on March 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The topic has yet to be determined, but a plant sale will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. The garden is at 891 Mountain Ranch Road.

Fiber artists meet
Feb. 10 in Sonora

The Studio 49 Fiber Arts Group will meet Feb. 10 at the Tuolumne County Library, 480 Greenley Road in Sonora.

The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to people interested in anything fiber-related — spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, et.
