CEO, Sierra Senior Providers-Senior Center

I recently received a phone call from an elderly woman who needed firewood to heat her home.

She had mentioned that she was out of firewood and was burning pine cones and whatever scraps of wood she could find. Through our firewood delivery program and in partnership with the Sonora Sunrise Rotary Club, we were able to deliver firewood to her.

It is the mission of Sierra Senior Providers to play a key role for seniors of Tuolumne County by providing services that promote independence, enhance quality of life, health, education, socialization and assist the elderly to remain in their homes.

Last year, 57,527 Meals On Wheels were delivered; 15,010 hot lunches were served at four congregate sites; 4,151 rides were provided for various local medical appointments and other errands; over 80 deliveries were made to seniors; and a variety of health and wellness programs either sponsored by or hosted by the Senior Center were offered, contributing to seniors overall wellbeing in mind, body and spirit.

“Without you, I don’t know what I would do. Thank you so much!” “Thank you! Thank you! This program is so needed.” — Transportation program clients.

“Socialization, good nutritious meals. Excellent food.” “Its therapy and good for my health” — Congregate program participants
