St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora is accepting registration for the 2017-18 Religious Education Program for kindergarten through Confirmation classes.

Classes will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will continue the period of inquiry into the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) in August.

RCIA is for adults seeking to receive or complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) in the Catholic Church.

A Catholic Men’s Fellowship Fall Retreat will be held later this month at Old Oak Ranch.

The event will take place over three days — 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 18, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 19, and 6 a.m. to noon Aug. 20.

The Rev. Dr. Bill Brennan, deacon serving the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Diocese of Stockton, will lead the retreat. Brenna ministers in the gift of the Holy Spirit, including prophecy, teaching and exhortation at parish missions, retreats and conferences, stated a press release.

A suggested donation of $180 covers the cost of lodging and meals.

Artists who attend Sierra Bible Church will share testimony and their talents at an Aug. 20 gathering at the church, 15171 Tuolumne Road near Standard.

The event will take place in The Commons and will include artist testimony, as well as a silent auction of pieces donated by the artists. Funds will benefit the SBC Family Emergency Fund.

The Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers will hold a “Hootenanny” sing-along Sept. 1 at the church’s Faith Hall.

The sing-along will feature music from the 1960s featuring Alex Kash.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Angels Camp will give away a 2017 Chevy Corvette at a drawing to be held Sept. 10 at the church, 820 S. Main St.

Tickets cost $100 each, and only 1,000 will be sold (a minimum of 700 must be sold). Taxes, fees and license costs are not included. The holder of the winning ticket can choose between the Corvette, $40,000 cash, or a $50,000 gift certificate to Sierra Motors in Jamestown (good only for vehicles of $50,000 or more).

Tickets purchased before July 30 will also go into a separate drawing for a five-day, four-night Mexican Cruise.

The day of the drawing will include a wine and cheese reception and festival from noon to 5 p.m. at the church. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m.

St. Matthew Lutheran Church’s Women’s Missionary League will collect toiletries and feminine products in June for donation to Interfaith Community Social Services.

Meditation and Modern Buddhism in Sonora is offered from 3 to 4 p.m. each Sunday at the Yoga Loft, 72 S. Stewart St.

The meetings provide group study, meditations and discussion. Hosts will play recorded teachings by American Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogyop.
