The Sonora High School girls softball team picked up a league win this week, beating Bret Harte 4-2.

The Bullfrogs were off to a solid 2-0 start through three after Morgan McDearmid singled in a run in fthe irst and Karlee Juarez stole home in the third.

Sonora answered with three runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.

McDearmid took the loss for Bret Harte. She pithced seven innings and struck out five. Kelsey Burr was in the circle for Sonora.

“Burr pitched an excellent game,” said Sonora coach Jon Abernathy. “She struck out 14 and gave up three hits.”

Burr was also productive at the plate with two hits including an RBI double.

“We are getting solid pitching and infield defense. Our outfield play is improving and we are starting to get some timely hits,” said Abernathy. “We hope to continue improving and that will keep us be competitive to the other teams in the league.”

Bret Harte’s Karlee Juarez led the ‘Frogs with two hits.

Kinley Apley and Madeline Schwartz each had one hit.

The teams will meet again Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Dome Field in Sonora.
