Recent rain may have canceled some early season Mother Lode League boys golf matches, but it hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of local high school athletes.

Sonora is undefeated in league play with wins over Calaveras, 236-314, Argonaut, 238-311, and Amador, 233-281.

Senior Ethan Wright was medalist in the Calaveras match and carded a nine-hole score of 42.

Senior Shaun King and freshman Kade Bankston both shot 48.

Against Argonaut, junior Hunter Hanson was the medalist with a 42.

Senior Ethan Wright and junior Aaron Wheeler each had a 46.

In the Amador match junior Hunter Hanson shot a 37. Kade Bankston shot 46 and Aaron Wheeler had a 47.

The Wildcats will reschedule rain-canceled matches with Summerville, Bret Harte and Linden.

Bret Harte is also undefeated in league play. They moved their record to 4-0 after toppling 1-3 Calaveras, 239-310.

The ‘Frogs’ Nick Kristoff had a 41, Mason Davis shot a 43, Kallen Dente shot 49, Nathan Vickerman had a 49 and Ryan Buchanan was in at 57.

Today Sonora hosts the mid-season tournament at Mountain Springs Golf Club.
