A 15-year-old male student at Calaveras High School in San Andreas who was arrested on Tuesday after he mentioned bringing a firearm to campus was involved with previous incidents of threatening violence against other students, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office press release said.

According to the press release, on Sept. 7, 2017, the student was found to be in possession of a knife after threatening to stab another student, and he was also involved in another incident at an unknown date where he threatened a student.

On Tuesday, the boy was said to have made statements such as “I guess I better not bring a gun that day” during a school discussion on lockdown drills and school safety.

It was not identified if the boy, who was heard talking about guns in another conversation, made a joke or an intentional threat.

School officials contacted the Sheriff’s Office after the comments were made, and investigating officers determined that the boy had not made any specific threats, nor did he have any weapons in his possession.
