A Chinese Camp resident died Wednesday afternoon outside of Jamestown on Stent Cut Off Road when his vehicle veered off the road and into a tree.
At about 6 p.m., Thomas Anthony Bills, 65, of Chinese Camp, was driving on Stent Cut Off Road north of Sullivan Street in a Ford-250 at an unknown speed.
The vehicle veered into the southbound lane on a slight curve in the road, and continued onto the west shoulder where it traveled up a soft dirt embankment.
The vehicle was stopped by a tree causing minor damage to the front bumper.
CPR efforts were performed on Bills when he was transported to Adventist Health Sonora in a ground ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Medical conditions are suspected to be a factor in the accident, pending an autopsy, a CHP news release said.
