A Sonora man was arrested early Thursday morning at Taser-point on South Washington Street after he allegedly broke a glass window and attempted to break into the building through a secondary door.
According to a Sonora Police Department news release, at about 2:33 a.m., a man was seen outside the building that once housed Baer’s Clothing Store attempting to break through a glass window.
He had entered into the locked building through the shattered display window, the news release said.
When a police officer saw him trying to break into the main part of the building through a secondary door, he ordered the man to leave the building at Taser-point and held him there until additional units responded.
The man was found to be in possession of marijuana, hydrocodone and clonazepam, which he did not have a prescription for. It is believed that the man was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Alfred Gumpferpabilona, 34, of Sonora, was booked on suspicion of burglary, felony vandalism, possession of narcotics and public intoxication.
Gumpferpabilona’s bail was set at $15,000 bail and was no longer in jail as of Thursday afternoon.
