Sonora’s varsity volleyball team added a win to their season with a three-set victory against Amador High School Tuesday night. The scores were 25-15, 25-20, 25-8.
The win over the Cats’ fellow Mother Lode League team moved them to 4-0 in conference play and 11-4 overall.
“My players were full of great spirit and had fun on the court last night,” said head coach Amy Wahlbrink.
Outside hitter Madison Fong was back on the court after being sidelined in August with an ankle inury.
“Last night she brought energy and power to our front row,” said Wahlbrink.
Fong went 13/13 on hits with 6 kills.
“The whole team is excited to have her back on the court,” she said.
Adding to Fong’s kills were Molly O'Reilly and Bella Patterson who each added seven kills.
Also helping push the ‘Cats past Amador was a strong service game performance by Riley Patterson.
Patterson tallied a team and season high of seven aces.
Emma Collett led the defense with 18 digs and 15 serve - receive passes.
The team played an away game against Stockton Wednesday. The Wildcats’s next home game is Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. at Sonora High School’s Bud Castle gym.
