One Foot Productions and Strong Brew have teamed up for the inaugural Bear Music Fest. The all-inclusive music festival will take place Friday through Sunday, Sept. 9 to 11, at Lair of the Golden Bear, off upper Highway 108 near Pinecrest.

Three-day passes — which include meals, lodging and all shows and events — are on sale at

“The concept behind the festival is to create an intimate and immersive musical experience in nature which fosters deep connections both to the music and to the musicians themselves,” said Executive Producer Kevin Merritt. “By only offering weekend passes (no single day or two-day passes) both the attendees and the artists are committed to this temporary community built on a common love and appreciation for the diversity of live music.”

Merritt said that Bear Music Fest is all about maximizing that experience for festivalgoers.

“Our goal is to combine the nostalgia of summer camp and the intimacy of a friend’s house party with a professionally produced music festival in a natural setting,” he said.

The Bay Area band Mother Hips will jam out on the main stage both nights. Joining them in the musical lineup is Chicago-based The Main Squeeze along with Q Brothers, Tornado Rider, Eric Stuart Band, Bayonics and more.

Caleb Hawley will fly in from New York City and join the up-and-coming Eugene Marie for their debut record release.

Kevin So, Risa Binder and Menna will arrive from Nashville to deliver some classic (and not so classic) southern sounds.

“You know that feeling you get before, during and after a concert?,” asked Executive Producer Leah Harper-Lane. “Wanting to share that feeling is why I got into this business, but I practically lived in production offices, or onsite at music venues. Then three years ago, my husband and I moved from New York City to the Bay Area, and the landscape changed my perspective. I felt rejuvenated by the outdoors, fresh air and an ability to escape. So when Kevin approached me about Bear Music Fest in Pinecrest, I knew it was the best of both worlds. BMF is for music lovers, nature lovers, and those rejuvenated by the energy of family and friends. We are bringing human connection back to its roots: laughing, drinking and dancing in the woods.”
