Relay for Life to celebrate survivors

Relay for Life Tuolumne County will hold a Survivor Celebration April 22 at Adventist Health Sonora.

The celebration is intended to recognize those who have fought the battle with cancer and won. It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in conference rooms 1 and 2 on the Greenley Road hospital’s ground floor.

Annual run will
benefit Mind Matters

The seventh annual Off the Beaten Path Run/Walk, a fundraiser for Mind Matters, will be held April 28 in Murphys.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Murphys Community Park on Algiers Street. Medals will be awarded for the top three spots in a 10K race, and a 5K run (or walk) will be held for fun.

Cost to register is $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 7 to 12 and free for children 6 and younger. A free T-shirt will be given to those who register by April 12.

Mind Matters is a nonprofit clinic in Murphys whose mission is to help individuals and families affected by autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADD/ADHD), and learning disabilities.

Project offers free help to depressed seniors

People age 60 and older who are experiencing symptoms of depression can receive 12 weeks of free in-home counseling or peer support through the SPARROW Project.

The project is a service of the Mother Lode Office of Catholic Charities in Sonora.

for weight loss

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), a weight-loss support group, meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Tuolumne County Library, 480 Greenley Road in Sonora.
