Infant-Child Enrichment Services will co-sponsor two parenting workshops in the coming weeks.
The first, “The Trauma of Separation,” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Amador-Tuolumne Community Action Agency Family Center at 18080 Blue Bell East, off Tuolumne Road near Standard.
The goal of the workshop is to provide a deeper understanding of the behaviors and challenges of children who have been removed from their primary caregivers, stated a press release.
The workshop is co-sponsored by ICES, Raising Healthy Families and Foster Kinship Care Education.
The second workshop, “Proactive Parenting,” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the learning center. The goal is to teach parents how to avoid reacting and instead be proactive in guiding a child’s behavior.
The workshop is co-sponsored by ICES and Raising Healthy Families.
To RSVP for either class, call (209) 533-0377. Limited childcare is available, so arrangements should be made early by calling the same number.
subject of workshop
The American Red Cross on Sunday will host a free, family friendly emergency preparedness workshop at the Red Cross Blood Donor Center on Sanguinetti Road in Sonora.
The community outreach event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will focus on safety and preparedness by teaching hands-only CPR, what items to store in a go-kit, how often to test smoke alarms and more. Representatives from local fire departments and law enforcement agencies will also provide safety information.
Refreshments, a prize drawing, and visits with Santa, who will hand out gifts (while supplies last), will also be a part of the event.
