Annual Health Fair
next week in Sonora

The 39th annual Adult Health Fair will be held next month at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.

Among the various screenings offered at two-day event, Oct. 17 and 18, will be a blood chemistry draw that includes a comprehensive blood panel, lipid profile, thyroid test and A1c for $25 per person. Men over 40 can get a PSA test for an addition $10. Only cash or checks will be accepted, and a 12-hour fast is recommended.

Free flu vaccines will be offered in the Creekside Building. Medicare will be billed, and donations will be accepted.

The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Doors for the blood draw open at 5 a.m. to accommodate working adults.

‘Mammo-Glam’ event offers support, healthy lifestyle education

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Mark Twain Health Care District will host a “Mammo-Glam” event on Tuesday and Oct. 26.

The event will offer women of all ages the opportunity to overcome mammogram fears and learn more about healthy lifestyle choices and overall well-being.

The event is part of the district’s A Plan 4 Me workshop series, which offers resources to help shape a healthy future.

Mammogram appointments will be available during the event. Those wanting a mammogram should secure a doctor’s order, then call (209) 754-2517 to reserve a screening time.

The event also will feature a glam photo booth, healthy refreshments and lifestyle resources, and zumba.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. both days in the lobby at Mark Twain Medical Center, 768 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas.

TOPS offers
support for weight loss

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), a weight-loss support group, meets from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Tuolumne County Library, 480 Greenley Road in Sonora.

to Parkinson’s
patients, families

Support for people with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones is offered once a month in Sonora.

The Sonora Parkinson’s Support Group meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every second Monday at the in Sonora Hills Clubhouse multipurpose room.
