Sierra Cellars pairs wines with authors
Sierra Cellars has joined with the Sonora Writers Group to create a Writers & Wine Hoop La.
The celebration of a good book and a fine wine will take place June 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Sierra Cellars, 22964 Meadow Lane in Twain Harte.
Local authors will read from their different original works and tell stories. Authors will have books available for signing and purchase.
“When I heard about the Sonora Writers Group, I thought to myself, what could be better than an evening with friends, a good book and a fine wine,” said Becky Halvorsen, owner of the Sierra Cellars Wine Tasting Room.
The evening is open to the public. A glass of wine with appetizers will be available for a small fee.
Havorsen now has her own label and offers Sierra Cellars Sangiovese, a black and red berry flavor that is ideal with grilled meats, and a Sierra Cellars Pinot Grigio with a crisp flavor that pairs with chicken and good for sipping.
The Hoop La will feature authors Glenn Ditman, Sydney Avey and Matt Peller.

Renovated Pizza Factory to reopen
The Pizza Factory in Twain Harte will reopen by late June.
The renovated pizza shop, at 18711 Tiffeni Drive, will offer the community hand-tossed pizzas, hot calzones, handmade pastas, sandwiches and salads.
Everything on Pizza Factory’s menu is prepared daily with fresh ingredients, such as hand-grated 100 percent mozzarella cheese, slow-cooked meat sauce and meatballs that are hand rolled in-house. The Twain Harte location also will offer online ordering, a loyalty program, fundraising opportunities, paint night and additional community activities.
Mary Jane Riva, who is also the CEO of Pizza Factory, and her husband Bob Riva, completely renovated the interior and will be responsible for managing and overseeing the restaurant operations.
The Pizza Factory brand also offers a “No Bully Zone” program to raise awareness about the prevalence of bullying in schools and throughout the community. Through local partnerships, Pizza Factory fights to put an end to harsh bullying wherever and whenever it occurs.
Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
