Jujitsu studio to host Children’s Safety forum

Mountain Storm Jujitsu will host a free Children’s Safety Awareness Forum Saturday to give parents and children the opportunity to learn about and discuss safety issues.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the business, 598 Washington St., in Sonora.

Topics will include bullying, online safety, general safety and more. A representative of the Sonora Police Department will be on hand to answer questions.

Junction merchants collect during Giving Tree campaign

Merchants at The Junction shopping center will collect gifts for the county’s low-income families during its annual Giving Tree campaign.

Tags with the name and need of a Tuolumne County resident can be picked up between Cricket Wireless and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Unit or at TJ Maxx, Taylor Jewelers, Pac N Copy, BBVA Compass Bank, Umpqua Bank, Famous Footwear, Wells Fargo Bank, CVS Pharmacy or Jack in the Box.

Shoppers are asked to take a tag and return an unwrapped package, along with the tag, to any business in the center.
