Lark honored by Taxpayers Association
Ed Lark, manager of Calaveras Public Access TV, recently was presented with the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association CCTA Award for Excellence in Public Service by Calaveras County Supervisor Michael Oliveira at the group’s annual fundraising barbecue in San Andreas.
The wording on the certificate is, “In appreciation for his community outreach, inspiration and devotion for teaching others the creative opportunities of film making.” Al Segalla, [resident of the association, said Ed Lark and his staff of volunteers have been doing a great job serving our county with interesting programs and providing a forum for public officials and candidates to communicate with the public.
Since joining Public Access TV in 2001, Ed Lark has produced about 1,000 programs. He puts in 50 to 55 hours per week, including weekends.

A Tuolumne County Chamber Mixer, Business after Hours, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The mixer will be hosted by AutoTech and Tires at 18899 Microtronics Way, off Camage Avenue near Standard. Food will be provided by Rockin’ Bar B.

A Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Mixer on Sept. 12 will kick off with a ribbon-cutting at the new offices of the Twain Harte Community Service District.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the office, 22912 Vantage Point Road, off Twain Harte Drive.

WHOW to hold inaugural soiree
WHOW will hold its first ever Soiree, an “Elegant Evening Celebrating Women,” Sept. 15 in East Sonora.
Joie Gharrity, a former Hollywood brand specialist, will discuss ways from women to “stand in your unique spotlight,” stated a press release. In addition, eight women will be chosen for makeovers including outfit, hair style, makeup and nails donated by local businesses. Recipients will receive a free ticket to the event.
The event also will feature a catered dinner and local wines.
Cost is $40 per person, and proceeds will be used to support WHOW (Women Helping Other Women), which offers a monthly ladies night out, training, inspiration and support to help women achieve their dreams.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Best Western Sonora Oaks’ Oak Glen Room on Hess Avenue.
