Former Bret Harte scoring machine Dan Radford enjoyed a big week for Cal Maritime.
According to the school’s website, Radford, a senior, had back-to-back big games on the hardwood for the Keelhaulers and was named a player of the week in the California Pacific Conference.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard scored 24 points in a loss at Benedictine-Mesa in Arizona and tallied 25 points in a win over Embry-Riddle. He also totaled 15 rebounds and three steals while hitting 6 of 11 3-pointers and 17 of 21 free throws over the two games.
Radford is averaging 19.7 points for the NAIA college in Vallejo, and ranks ninth in the nation in free throw percentage, 90 percent, and 21st in total scoring, according to the article on www.cmakeelhaulers.com.
Radford is one of three Columbia College transfers playing at the Bay Area institution, including senior Travis Arenas, a Summerville graduate, who played against Radford in high school, and Michael Meserole, of Galt.
Radford owns the all-time single-game scoring mark in Bret Harte history with 47. He set that mark in 2012 against Arenas’ Summerville Bears.
