Sonora girls basketball moves to 6-1 in MLL

Sonora girls varsity basketball coach Amy Emerald continues to get production from her entire roster.

Wednesday night the ‘Cats beat Amador 55-31, moving them to 6-1 in Mother Lode League play.

“We have really played well as a team lately,” said Emerald. “Whether it’s scoring, rebounding, steals or assists, every single player is having an impact. That’s real important for this time of year.”

Caitlin Baker led the Wildcats on scroing with 21 points, including five three-pointers.

She also had five steals.

Shanece Garrett had 12 points and five rebounds. And Riley Hessler had six points.

Sonora is now in second place behind 7-1 Argonaut in the MLL.

The team will get a break from play tonight before traveling to 4-3 Calaveras Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Calaveras handed the ‘Cats their only league loss to date Jan. 12, 58-47.

The varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m.
