Sonora High School enters Wednesday's Mother Lode League meet at Wildcat Ranch with one of the fastest three-milers in the nation.

Over the weekend Sonora’s Cassi Land ran a personal best time of 16:45 at the annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic in Southern California.

Land’s time was good enough to put her No. 25 in the nation.

On the boys varsity team, Ryan Dunlop placed 14th among 151 runners in the three-miler with a time of 15:33.

Land and Dunlop lead the Mother Lode League in three-mile race times.

Frog Town Invitational

Bret Harte, Calaveras and Summerville high schools were in action at the annual Frog Town Invitational at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.

Bret Harte’s Varsity runner Kaela Dishion placed first in the small school three-mile varsity race with a time of 19:19. Summerville’s MacKenzie Hartwig was second, crossing the line with a 20:57.00 time.

Calaveras’ Jeremy Milligan placed fourth among varsity small schools in the three-mile race with a time of 17:16.



Wildcat Ranch meet

Sonora High School hosts its annual league meet Wednesday at Wildcat Ranch. The course was designed by 2014 Sonora graduate Steven Grolle and completed by Wildcat Patrick McConnell.

It’s the second league race of the season. Races begin at 3:45 at Wildcat Ranch, 14685 Tuolumne Rd, Sonora.
