The Mother Lode Gun Club Nuggets competed Saturday at the California Youth Shooting Sports Association’s State Championship at the Angels Gun Club in Angels Camp.

McKenna Alderman hit 184 out of 200 targets in 25 MPH winds and high humidity to help lead the Intermediate Advanced Nugget team to a second-place finish.

She was followed by teammates Trace Strickland at 177, Cooper Hildebrand at 171, Traver Grandbois at 163 and Tyler Keith at 147.

On a separate Nugget squad, Jack Morey tied for third place individually with his score of 190. He would go on to lose in the second round of his shoot-off, 48-45, to take fourth.

The three-person Rookie division Nuggets team took third place overall, with Joshua Reese leading the way with his score of 176 out of 200.

His teammates Dylan Kappl and Payton Wearin shot 164 and 163, respectively.

In the Intermediate Entry Level division, Nugget Nick Walker shot a 171, helping his team to a fifth-place finish.

Next up, the Nuggets will return to Kingsburg for the California Invitational Trap Shoot.

It will be the final event of the 2017 shooting season.
