Rock climbing and big wall pioneer Royal Robbins stands with another legend in the global climbing community, John Long, at a reunion near Tahquitz Rock in Southern California, where generations of climbers honed skills and tools they later used to conquer the most challenging walls in Yosemite Valley. Long posted the photo to social media Tuesday evening with these words: "Royal Robbins was my hero when I was 16 and he will always be my hero. Feels like I have a hole in my chest. Condolences to all his peers and fans worldwide. RR was an American treasure. (photo from 2011, at a reunion in Idylwild)" Photo shared by John Long.
