Slip slidin’ away

To the Editor:

Simon and Garfunkel’s song was playing on the radio when I started my car and it occurred to me how far afield our country had traveled from the vision of the founders.

The opening lyrics “the closer your destination, the more you go slip slidin’ away”. I’ve always thought of life like that, in that when it was good, it was two steps forward, one step back, and when it was bad, one step forward and two steps back. What’s going on now, in our country, I fear is far worse.

The democrats were right, and give credit where credit is due, but they were only half right. Turns out, it was Obama’s Justice Department and Hillary that were colluding with the Kremlin. The State Department under HRC, had tea with Assad, reset with Medvedev, and lest we forget, told the world four American heroes died in Benghazi over a video. So it’s not a stretch to believe that she would rig the primary against Bernie, and pay for a salacious hit piece on Trump

Shame on the FBI being so invested in interfering and trying to invalidate the presidential election. It is so offensive as to make Hollywood salivate. I have always had the impression that becoming an FBI agent was considered one of the most difficult jobs to get in law enforcement. Yet, reading the texts released by Strzok and Paige, they could have been recruited from the local Starbucks.

The scandal is only beginning to unravel. Ben Franklin was asked, as he left Independence Hall in Philadelphia in 1787, “Well Doctor, do we have a Republic or a Monarchy?” to which he replied, “A Republic, if we can keep it”. Can we?
