Darleen Lehman, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away on Jan. 13, 2018, at the age of 87. She was born in Spokane, Washington, to Howard and Edith Porritt. The family moved from Washington to San Francisco, where she graduated from Commerce High School in 1948. From there, she moved to Sonora, where she met and fell in love with Lowell Lehman. They married in August of 1949. They had three children, Linda, Wendy and Cindy.

Darleen was in YLI, taught Catechism at St. Patrick's Church, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Flying Samaritans. She very much enjoyed working with the orphans and helping people in need through the Samaritans. She was instrumental in helping the orphans in Romania find homes.

Most important to Darleen was the love of her family. She loved her children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. They all meant the world to her. She was a good wife, the best mom ever, an amazing cook and homemaker. She always wore a smile, was kind, caring and loving.

Darleen is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lowell; her daughters, Linda Miller, Wendy Sanguinetti and Cindy West; five grandchildren, Bill Mierop, Will West, Matt and Danny Sanguinetti, and Tammy White; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Lane, Coleton, Brayden, Cooper, Trey, Coleton, Joel and Owen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Piper and Lyla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Edith Porritt; her sister, LoRayne Cole; and her great-grandson, Bryce Sanguinetti, whose death caused her great sorrow.

“While we are saddened by her loss, we know that she is at peace with the Lord.”

There will be no services per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her name.
