Arlene Joan Taylor passed away on Dec. 16, 2017, at Sonora Regional Medical Center.

Arlene was born May 13, 1934, in Oakland, California. She worked at Kaiser Engineers and Occidental Life Insurance Company in Oakland before getting married.

Arlene volunteered for many years at Curtis Creek Grammar School as a teacher’s aide and librarian, and worked one-on-one with children who had reading difficulties. She volunteered at the 49’er Church Thrift Shop and for several years at Sonora Regional Medical Center’s information desk. She was a member of the Mother Singers for many years, and an active member of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) for over 30 years.

Arlene and her husband, Frank, traveled to Norway, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama Canal, New Zealand, Hawaii and Alaska.

She loved gardening on her property in Sonora, sewing, cooking, backpacking and camping.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Richard Taylor; children, Russell Glenn Taylor, of Spokane, Washington, Douglas Edward Taylor, of Tuolumne, and Ann Louise Crane, of Sonora; grandchildren, Benjamin Taylor, of Spokane, Amber Taylor, of Santa Rosa, Kevin Taylor, of Portola Valley, Kelly Mermod, of Sonora, Clay Mermod, of Jamestown, and Clay Taylor, of Reno, Nevada; one great-grandchild; and brother, Roger Christensen, of Incline Village, Nevada.

A memorial service will be determined at a later date.
