John Lewis Johnson passed away, after a short bout with cancer, on Aug. 31, 2017, at
Avalon Care Center, in Sonora. His wife Carol was at his side. He was born on Dec. 12, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio. John received his BA in accounting from California State University, Northridge. He was the chief financial officer for a large international customs and freight forwarding company in Los Angeles. After retiring he and his wife moved in 2012 to Mi Wuk Village.
John loved sailing, hiking, fishing and spending RV time in the mountains. He was a member of SIRS (Sons In Retirement), Highway 108, and the Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Department Board of Directors, where he served as finance officer. He loved a good book especially Roman history and archaeology. John had a unique sense of humor, kind and friendly personality and a deep sense of integrity.
He is survived by his wife; four sisters; his brother; and his special friend Bean, his cat.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Twain Harte Golf Club, 22909 Meadow Dr., Twain Harte, CA 95383
