Juanita D. Williams
Nov. 29, 1923 — Dec. 26, 2016
Longtime Sonora resident Juanita D. Williams passed away at the age of 93 in Portland, Oregon, on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016.
Juanita lived with her husband, Ed William, in Sonora from 1980 through 2006. They were both very active at Mill Villa Estates, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and in the community of Sonora.
Juanita and Ed have eight children, 21 grandchildren, and many more great- and great-great-grandchildren. Their youngest son, Michael, played football at Sonora High from 1980 through 1982, and he was team captain in 1982. Attending Michael’s games brought Juanita and Ed much joy and pleasure.
Juanita was an avid bridge and cribbage player and a beloved member of the “Red Hat” ladies in Sonora. She moved to Portland in 2006 to be near her son, Gary, and his family after Ed died. She continued playing cards (often winning) right up to her 93rd birthday on Nov. 29.
A service for Juanita will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 1015 182nd St., Portland, Oregon. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.
