An overturned personal watercraft in the water under the Tulloch Bridge on O’Byrnes Ferry Road required the response of a Copperopolis fire department unit Thursday morning.

Copperopolis Fire Captain Matt Sowell said a fire engine and ambulance responded to the area of Tulloch Bridge about 11 a.m. on a report that a man on a personal watercraft had overturned.

The man was uninjured, Sowell said, and denied medical services.

The watercraft had overturned when the man was riding about 5 mph, Sowell said. Another boater assisted in flipping the watercraft over, but it had stopped working, he said.

A Calaveras County Sheriff’s Marine Unit was also dispatched to the scene to assist, said Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt.

The Sheriff’s marine vessel helped haul the personal watercraft from the scene, Sowell said.
