A Sonora man was pronounced dead at a Modesto-area hospital Sunday afternoon after a motorcycle accident near Mokelumne Hill.
About 2:15 p.m., Allen Oxender, 65, was driving a 2012 Harley-Davidson northbound on Highway 49 south of a the Calaveras County-Amador County line with his passenger, Amy Oxender, 57, on the rear on the vehicle. The two were traveling at an unknown speed, a CHP news release said.
Allen Oxender was unable to control the vehicle on a right-hand curve in the road and lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with a guardrail, and both were ejected from the vehicle.
Amy Oxender sustained minor injuries and received treatment at Sutter Amador Hospital.
Allen Oxender was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are not considered to be factors in the wreck.
