for sale Oct. 21
Fall is the time to put out a bird box so it can age before birds are selecting nesting locations in the spring.
Now is the time to buy and install bird boxes so the boxes are already aged and fitting into their environment, according to TomHarrington, coordinator for the Central Sierra Audubon Society’s bird box sale set for Oct. 21 at Rocca Park in Jamestown.
The bird box sale will be held in conjunction with the California Native Plant Society’s fall plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon.
Boxes to house bats, owls, bluebirds and other small bird species will be offered as well as books about birds and bird lists for the area. The bird boxes have been built by members of the Audubon Society.
Proceeds of spring and fall bird box sales put on each year by the society to help fund scholarships awarded to local students.
Antiques offered at Memorial Hall Oct. 21
Tuolumne’s Memorial Hall Antique Fair, now in its seventh year, will be held Oct. 21 and 22 at the Veterans Memorial Hall in downtown Tuolumne.
