Community potato harvest set for Sunday
FoCuS (Foothill Collaboration for Sustainability) will host its annual Potato Harvest Sunday beginning at 8 am.
Come for a short time or stay for the duration and harvest potatoes from the community Potato Patch. This year the patch is across the street from 18161 Zeni Lane, Tuolumne. Participants should bring a hat, gloves and something to carry home potatoes from the harvest.
Every year, FoCuS plants potatoes in May with community help. In September anyone is welcome to share in the bounty in return for helping with the project. Potatoes are grown without the use of chemical pesticides, fumigants or herbicides that are commonly used in store-bought potatoes. The Potato Patch is in keeping with the nonprofit FoCuS mission of educating toward a more self-reliant food system.
