Master Gardeners to host Open Garden Day

Master Gardeners of Tuolumne County will host an Open Garden Day Sept. 9 at the demonstration garden in Sonora.

Those in attendance will be taken on a tour of the garden, and there will be a question-and-answer session on gardening in general.

The garden, 251 S. Barretta St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fiber artists meet
Sept. 9 in Sonora

The Studio 49 Fiber Arts Group will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Tuolumne County Library on Greenley Road in Sonora.

Anyone interested in spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting or other fiber arts is invited.

Weaving, spinning equipment for sale

Used weaving and spinning equipment and overstocked yarn will be offered for sale at a meeting Sept. 12 of the Mother Lode Weavers and Spinners Guild.

Gardening for elderly topic for garden club

Pegi Palmes will be guest speaker when the Calaveras County Garden Clubs meets Sept. 13.

The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Renegade Winery, 8345 Main St., in Mokelumne Hill. Lunch will be served at noon.

Palmes topic will be gardening for the elderly and challenged individuals.

for Oct. 21

The California Native Plant Society will hold its annual Native Plant Sale Oct. 21 in Jamestown.

The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Rocca Park on Main Street and will feature several species of shrubs and perennials that require little water once established.

Needle group meets second Mondays

The Golden Needles group at Sierra Bible Church meets the second Monday of each month at 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora.

The group crochets and knits hats, scarves, lap robes, afghans, baby blankets and caps for food pantry clients, seniors at Avalon, Foothill Pregnancy Center and homeless people in San Francisco.
