Pancake breakfast rescheduled for Jan. 6
A pancake breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Young Ladies Institute Patricia No. 79 originally scheduled for Nov. 11 will be held Jan. 6 at Applebee’s on Sanguinetti Road in Sonora.
Cost for the breakfast is $5 per person, and it will be served from 8 to 10 a.m.
Tickets are available at the door or by calling (209) 532-5955. Tickets purchased for the November event will be honored at the Jan. 6 event.
Elks Lodge to hold
New Year’s Eve party
“An Evening in Paris” will be the theme for the 12th annual Sonora Elks Lodge New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31.
A dinner of prime rib or salmon will be served at 6 p.m., followed by dancing to the music of the Rusty Rockers from 7 to 11 p.m. A champagne toast will be done at 9 p.m.
The event will also feature prizes and a cash raffle.
Cost for the event is $45 per person, and reservations must be made and paid in full by Dec. 28.

Odd Fellows dinner
Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 Odd Fellows Burns Supper, a celebration of Scottish culture and Scottish poet Robert Burns.
The evening will include a traditional Scottish dinner, bagpipes and Scotch, toasts, speeches and works by Burns.
The event is a fundraiser for the Sonora Odd Fellows Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support and services for Tuolumne County’s foster youth, sick and the elderly.
The dinner will be held Jan. 27 at the Hurst Ranch barn off Highway 108 in Jamestown. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Free tax help offered at Senior Center
Internal Revenue Service and the Franchise Tax Board-trained volunteers, in conjunction with AARP, will be give free tax help to people 60 and older and low- to moderate-income people beginning Feb. 7.
Help will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays through April 4 at the Tuolumne County Senior Center, 540 Greenley Road, Sonora.
People should bring their 2016 tax return, annual income statements from Social Security, broker statements, 1099s, W-2s, etc. Assistance is not offered for businesses that have depreciation, including rental income.
