Senior volunteers of the Year honored by commission

The Tuolumne County Commission on Aging on Thursday honored three Tuolumne residents for their volunteerism.

The Senior Woman Volunteer of the Year is Penny Jelito, of Tuolumne, who for more than 30 years has served individuals, programs and agencies in the county.

Don Bakka was given the Senior Male Volunteer of the Year award in recognition of more than 25 years and countless hours with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Community Service Unit, which provides day-to-day support to Sheriff’s Office employees.

Senior Couple Volunteers of the Year are Linda and Jack Adeylott, both of whom have served Interfaith Community Social Services for more than nine years.

Other senior volunteers honored include Larry Bodiford, Maureen Carden, Paulette Carter, Pam Dobbs, Phil Jones, Cathy Kirkbride, Carol Mabe, Brenda Maciel, Vi Morgado, Gail Nobles, Alyse Olson, Claudia Qwinn, Lucille Stutsman, Bob Beldhuizen, Rita Vigil and Deborah Cushman.

The ceremony was held in the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors chambers in downtown Sonora.
