“Realms of Darkness,” the 4-H haunted house, opens tonight (Oct. 19) for eight evening performances in the red barn at Sonora Lumber, 730 S. Washington St. in downtown Sonora.
Featuring live actors and special effects, the haunted house is staged by Tuolumne County 4-H teens and adult volunteers. Evening performances are dark and not recommended for young children.
Admission to the evening shows is $10 per person (cash only, paid at the door).
Evening performances will be held:
• Tonight, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
• Friday, 7 to 9 p.m.
• Saturday, 7 to 9 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 26, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 27, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 28, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
• Monday, Oct. 30, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 31, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
A special matinee for families and children will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The matinee is a series of demonstrations with the lights on. It is OK for young children accompanied by an adult. Admission is $1 per person.
The haunted house is wheelchair accessible. No pets, smoking, cell phones or masks.
The group rate is $5 per person (for 10 or more, presale only). Call for group tickets at least 24 hours ahead.
The “Realms of Darkness” haunted house started in 1999 and acts as a fundraiser for the 4-H organization’s teen program.
Following years at The Junction shopping center in East Sonora, the haunted house moved to the red barn behind Sonora Lumber in downtown Sonora. After a hiatus last year, “Realms of Darkness” returns this week.
