Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Tuolumne County member Richard Close will lead a discussion Sunday titled “Care of the (Aging) Soul” at a meeting of the group.

Close and four other fellowship members will share their thoughts on aging — how it has changed and deepened their sense of soulfulness.

St.Patrick’s" target="_blank">class="s1">St.Patrick’s Catholic Church will host its annual Blessing of the Animals at 9 a.m. Oct. 7 at the church, 127 Jackson St., in Sonora.

All animals — dog, cat, rabbit, bird or other — is welcome, and all should be on a leash or in a crate.

The Mother Lode Jewish Community on Oct. 7 will celebrate Sukkot with a harvest-based potluck brunch gathering in Copperopolis.

The group will learn about the history and traditions of the holiday and, after brunch, Rabbi Andra Greenwald will conduct a brief service and lead the group in waving the lulav and etrog, an upbeat tradition associated with the holiday.

Sierra Bible Church will host a Fall Family FUn NIght Oct. 29 at the church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, near Standard Park.

The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. and will include food and games. Costumes are encouraged.

Faith Lutheran Church in Murphys will host a Reformation 500th anniversary concert and hymn sing Oct. 29 at the church, 65 Mitchler St.

Local singers and musicians will be featured in the hour-long concert, refreshments will be served, and activities for children will be offered.

St. Matthew Lutheran Church Women’s Missionary League will collect school supplies during September for needy children in Tuolumne County.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and between 8 a.m. and noon Sundays at the church, 13880 Joshua Way in East Sonora.

Meditation and Modern Buddhism in Sonora is offered from 3 to 4 p.m. each Sunday at the Yoga Loft, 72 S. Stewart St.

The meetings provide group study, meditations and discussion. Hosts will play recorded teachings by American Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogyop.

A $5 to $10 donation is requested.
