Columbia College will offer a community education class, Wine Tasting Global While Staying Local, in October.
The class will explore a number of global grape types, regional differences and winemaker influences. With an emphasis on popular wine regions from around the world, students will learn sensory evaluations, current trends and wine relationships with each country’s foods. Students must be 21 years old to take this class.
Instructor Tom Bender has taught wine and hospitality management-related classes at
Columbia College for more 35 years. He currently manages an extensive wine department
and popular wine bar in Modesto, in additional to making and writing about wine.
The class will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays Oct. 12, 19 and 26 on the college campus.
