Pet blessings

All animals (and owners) invited to Church of the 49ers’ pet blessing

The Rev. Janet Russell will bless pets of all types at 10 a.m. Saturday during the Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers’ seventh annual Pet Blessing on the lawn at the church, 11151 Jackson St., in Columbia.

Well-behaved pets of any size and any species, on leashes or leads or in carriers, are welcome. Shade, seating and cold water, and treats for pets, will be provided.

The event is free and open to the community. Each pet will be given a personalized blessing by the Rev. Janet Russell, and its human companion will receive a commemorative certificate.

During this “Yappy Hour,” a photographer will take photos of the pets as they are blessed, and pet portraits afterward (free for a digital image, or at cost for prints).
