Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will hold an Open Garden Day today at its demonstration garden in Sonora.
The day’s demonstrations will include watering options for summer, planning and planting a summer vegetable garden and benefits of garden mulches. Master Gardener-grown vegetable starts will also be offered for purchase.
The garden will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. The event is free.
The garden is at 251 S. Barretta St.

The Sierra Quilt Guild will hold a rummage sale Monday durings its 7 p.m. meeting at the Tuolumne County Senior Center.
The quilt-related sale will include, books, tools, fabric and more

CalaverasGROWN market opens Thursday
The CalaverasGROWN Certified Farmers Market will begin its season Thursday at the UCCE Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden in San Andreas.
The market is held from 4 to 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month and features a variety of products from Calaveras County farms including fresh vegetables and herbs, olive oil, honey and jams, mustards, eggs, baked goods and fresh flowers.
The family event will include entertainment by “Vintage Vibrations,” a jazz, swing and Dixieland group, and activities for kids in the Children’s Garden.
The event is sponsored by Mark Twain Medical Center.
The Demonstration Garden is at 891 Mountain Ranch Road.

open house to benefit Cancer Center
An open house of Claudia Smith’s Antique and Vintage Doll Showcase will benefit Sonora Regional Medical Center’s new Cancer Center.
The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 at 18495 Railbed Road in Jamestown.
Dolls are primarily of French and German origin from the late 1880s to early 1900s. Appetizers, coffee, tea and lemonade will be served. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Proceeds will be donated in the name of Smith’s husband, Rodney W. Smith, who recently died of cancer.
The Mother Lode Doll Study Club is assisting with the event.
