Put on chains

To the editor:

In response to Sean Owens (Dec. 24 letter, “Plow, sand the roads”).

I see things different. What I think Sean needs to focus on is: putting chains on when you live in a snow area, especially Crystal Falls Drive. It is very icy, and when we turn chain control signs on it is for a reason — your safety.

I know that Crystal Falls Drive was plowed, because there were two of us in the area. What happened to giving thanks to the people who plow and sand your roads?

We work very hard, and why? Because people don’t put chains on and maybe they don’t know how. People come here and never have driven in the snow.

Yes, this is a mountain community and we have snow. You need to put chains on.

There were accidents, Sean, but not one of those cars had chains on. That is what people need to focus on. It would help us out, but I don’t think people want to make it easier — they just want to complain.

As for Parrotts Ferry Road, it was sanded and so was Phoenix Lake Road. So, Sean, you are incorrect. And did you have your chains on while on Fuller Road? If you did, you probably would have made it.

I drive a truck with a plow and I put chains on. I can go anywhere in the county. So instead of being negative, words of thanks and encouragement would be appreciated. Thanks to everyone that appreciates us and what we do. And yes, you are welcome.
