Dorothy Louise Hamrick

Oct. 7, 1916 — Feb. 10, 2003

Dorothy Louise Hamrick, 86, of Hathaway Pines died Monday at her home.

Mrs. Hamrick was born in Denver and had lived in Hathaway Pines for the past 28 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Arnold Jehovah's Witnesses.

She ran a day-care business from her Hathaway Pines home for more than 20 years, and she and her husband, Clarence, were foster parents. Over the years about 200 foster children entered the Hamrick homes either in the Bay Area or Calaveras County.

She was preceded in death by her husband 25 years ago.

Mrs. Hamrick is survived by six daughters, Margaret Kuchman of Castro Valley, Deloris Gowen of Manteca, Dorothy Lambert and Paulette Martin of Fresno and Jacqueline Hager and Jennifer Claussen, both of Santa Cruz; one brother, Richard of Denver; two sisters, Maryann and Doris, both of Denver; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous foster children.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, 4740 Meadow View Road, Murphys. Inurnment will be private. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
