JACKSON — Megan Wingo and Kellie Pierce led Summerville High School to a 70-59 girls' basketball victory over Argonaut on Friday night.

Wingo finished with a season-high 24 points and nine rebounds, while Pierce recorded a triple-double (23 points, 13 assists, 11 steals) as Summerville (10-4, 1-1 Mother Lode League) built a 40-20 halftime lead and cruised past the Mustangs (1-14, 0-2) from there.

"That was the best first half we've played this season," Summerville coach Darcy Wingo said. "Kellie had just an amazing game, one of the best I've seen in a girls' game.

"We did a good job of going to the basket, which we have to do," he added. "Kellie and Megan scored a lot, but everybody did a good job, especially on defense."

Kelsey Wingo and Melissa Wise added seven points apiece for Summerville.

The Bears visit Linden (5-12, 0-2 MLL) on Wednesday before hosting Bret Harte (11-8, 2-0) on Friday.

Sophomores — The Bearcubs (7-4, 1-1) dropped a 36-32 decision to Argonaut. Crystal Edgerton finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Geri Clink added six points and nine rebounds.

Freshmen — Summerville got six points from Driana Eck in a 38-20 loss to Argonaut.

Cougs rule in second half

Mother Lode Christian hit the gas in the second half and motored away to a 39-25 victory over Stockton Christian at Rex Heath Gym in Tuolumne.

The Cougars (4-12, 1-3 Mountain Valley League) outscored Stockton 25-10 to obliterated a 15-14 halftime deficit.

"We took it to them in the second half," Mother Lode coach Josh Milbourn said. "We were more aggressive defensively and that got us started offensively."

Amanda Hess scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half, Megan Bunow put in seven points, and Sam Brinegar hit a pair of 3-pointers.

The Cougars host Tioga at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
