SIX TEAMS wrapped up first-half championships in winter-league action at Sonora Family Bowl. The Lucky Strikers title went to the 6-Pack (Mike Toney, Trish Toney, Leslie West, Russ Lindgren, Bill Kelly) with a record of 43-21, four games better than S.A.M.M. Sonora Family Bowl (Shirley Parades, Laura Persson, Mary Lou Crass, Evelyn Lohr, John Crass) won in Mixed Angels with 40 victories to 38 for second-place Sierra Glass. The Early Birds title went to the Dreamers (William Mongolo, Barbara Moore, Ken Burns, Kelly) by a 42-40 margin over Wright's Wrongs. Monday Nevada saw Confidence Log Works (Gwen Chastain, Randy Hunsaker, Irene Deaver, Janet Schramm, Calvin Lattin) win with a record of 41.5-22.5 to 40-24 for Sierra Lighting. In City Twilight, Sonora Family Bowl Bar (Philip Sugerman, Kenny McLaughlin, Lattin, Roger Brown) came out on top. Woods Creek Builders (John and Mary Lou Crass, John and Phyllis Miller, Pat Crass) ruled in Guys and Dolls to the tune of 41-23, with Gozaboy Houseboats second at 38-26. BILL KELLY'S 278 in Tuesday's Finest was the top men's game of the week, and his 687 was the second-highest men's series. The top men's troika was a 688 in Twilight by Pete DeBrunce, whose building block was a 258 game. Women's game honors went to Kay Hunter with a 233 in Birds. Other top games for women were Tina Ray's 228 in Gamblers Getaway, and a 217 by Barbara Newman, a 215 by Deaver and a 213 by Lohr all in Monday. For men, Larry Rush had a 255 in Angels and Larry Blackmore a 246-654 in Tuesday Nevada. |
