Two Tuolumne County maintenance workers Thursday gave the county courthouse clock a hand two of them, in fact.

The workers Robert Kassay and Gary Bracket fashioned a pair of Mickey Mouse hands, and put them where the clock hands normally show the time on the north side of the tower facing Sonoras Yaney Avenue.

They didnt ask for permission so, yes, they snuck in and did it, said Tuolumne County Maintenance Supervisor Kenny Watts today, but we figured with all the stress and hard work that goes on around the county, having something light-hearted happen once in a while doesnt hurt at all.

The clock works, removed for construction earlier this year, normally run hands that show the time on all four sides of a tower at the top of the cupola. Work to strengthen the cupola is nearing its final stages, Watts said.

Workers put the hands up on the clock about 3 p.m. Thursday, Watts said. Originally, the time was set at 3 oclock, he said, but later it was changed to 5 oclock quitting time.
