Elmer Bulgrin

Sept. 11, 1917 — Nov. 9, 2003

Elmer Bulgrin, stepfather of Dale Beyersdorf of Sonora, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at a Wisconsin hospital. He was 86.

He was born in Beloit, Wis., to Ervin and Gertrude Bulgrin and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1941-45, earning the Bronze Star. He was a navigator for the Air Force stationed in San Antonio for his training and spent his service in New Guinea and Australia.

Mr. Bulgrin is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ruble of Los Gatos and Jane Bulgrin of San Jose; stepsons and their spouses, Dale and Deborah Beyersdorf of Sonora, David Beyersdorf of Milwaukee, Bruce and Gail Beyersdorf of Hartford, Wis., Gene and Diane Beyersdorf and Gayle Beyersdorf, all of Appleton, Wis., James and Shirley Beyersdorf of Sheboygan, Wis., Vilas Beyersdorf of Neenah, Wis., and Milan and Nancy Beyersdorf of Merrill, Wis.; stepdaughters and their spouses, Joyce and Jerry Miller of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ruby and Al Fandry of Birnamwood, Wis., and Bonnie and Bucky Bender of Ringle, Wis.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Bulgrin, in July 2000.

He was given a military funeral in Appleton, Wis., for immediate family members.

Robert William Archibald

March 25, 1947 — Nov. 10, 2003

Robert William Archibald of Jamestown died Monday, Nov. 10, at his home after a long illness. He was 56.

He was born in Florida and moved to Jamestown in June. He worked as a security guard for five years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship in White Bear Lake, Minn., for many years.

Mr. Archibald is survived by his mother, Charlotte Vuocolo of Jamestown; a sister, Mary Laurenzi of Jamestown; a brother, Dale Archibald of Minneapolis; sons, Robert Archibald and Dennis Archibald of Jamestown, and Brent and Nicholas Archibald, both of Little Falls, Minn.; and a daughter, Dannelle Archibald of Rochester, Minn.

A memorial service was to be held Saturday.

Madeline L.

Cavagnaro

Oct. 9, 1908 — Nov. 11, 2003

Former longtime San Andreas resident Madeline L. Cavagnaro died Tuesday at a Stockton hospital. She was 95.

She was born and raised in Camanche and lived in San Andreas for nearly 30 years, then in Stockton for 10 years. She received her bachelor's degree and teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley. She worked as a teacher for Camanche Grammar School in Camanche and Calaveras High School in San Andreas. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Calaveras County Historical Society, American Association of Retired Persons and the University of California, Berkeley Alumni Association.

She is survived by numerous nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, H. Louis, Andrew J. and Edwin J. and her infant sister, Lenore L.

A memorial Mass was to be celebrated today at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in San Andreas.

Lillian Norinne (Jasper) Filippini

Jan. 19, 1906 — Nov. 13, 2003

Longtime San Andreas resident Lillian Norinne (Jasper) Filippini died Thursday at a San Andreas hospital. She was 97.

She was born in California and lived in San Andreas for 81 years. She was a homemaker and rancher.

She was a member of the Angels-Azalea Chapter No. 77 of the Eastern Star for more than 75 years, Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel No. 162, Calaveras County Farm Bureau, Calaveras County Historical Society and the Native Daughters of the Golden West.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and William Burton of San Andreas; a brother, Milton Jasper of San Andreas; grandchildren, Brenda Bayers and Karen and Brad Burton; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1993 and brothers, Bryce and Melbourne.

Visitation is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. today at San Andreas Memorial Chapel. A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at the chapel.
