WEDNESDAY

9:08 a.m., Don Pedro area — The owner of Country Auto Repair, on the 3400 block of Merced Falls Road said someone tried to break in overnight.

10:08 a.m., Standard — A Curtis Creek School employee asked for a deputy to help with an out-of-control student.

10:44 a.m., Columbia — A woman on the 13000 block of Big Hill Road said checks were written on an account she had closed.

11:59 a.m., Pinecrest Lake — A man said he left his boat docked at the marina for five minutes and when he came back it was moved to another berth.

12:57 p.m., Don Pedro Reservoir — A man said while he was fishing at Vista Point on the reservoir, two men threw rocks at him.

12:58 p.m., Twain Harte — A woman on the 22000 block of Twain Harte Drive said her Social Security number was used to open two credit card accounts and that about $4,000 has been charged to one of them.

2:44 p.m., Tuolumne — Two newspaper racks plus the papers and change inside them were reported stolen from a stand in front of the Tuolumne Post Office on Carter Street.

3:59 p.m., Jamestown — A caller said four men and a woman were drinking at Rocca Park.

5:16 p.m., Lime Kiln Road area — A woman said her purse was stolen from her locked car parked on Lime Kiln Road.

5:25 p.m., Columbia — A woman said a drunken man was staggering in and out of Parrotts Ferry Road near the elementary school. A deputy arrested a 31-year-old man on misdemeanor warrants.

7:43 p.m., Tuolumne — A house on the 18000 block of Carter Street was burglarized and $450 worth of antiques were stolen.

8:28 p.m., Twain Harte — A 36-year-old woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant charging her with public intoxication after a man heard a woman and man arguing near his house on Strauch Drive.

10:59 p.m., East Sonora — A clerk at Best Western Sonora Oaks motel said a guest was being verbally abusive and causing a disturbance.

Felony bookings

YESTERDAY

9:52 a.m., Phoenix Lake — John Paul Quelvog, 27, 21200 block of Phoenix Lake Road, Sonora, booked on suspicion of burglary after an arrest at his home.

According to a sheriff's department report, Quelvog is suspected of burglarizing a neighbor's home on April 19 while the homeowner was vacationing. After an investigation, deputies matched fingerprints taken at the victim's home to those on file for Quelvog, and an arrest warrant was issued.

Quelvog remains in custody this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

3:50 p.m., Tuolumne — Darrin Brett Russ, 43, 18700 block of Madrone Street, Tuolumne, booked on suspicion of possessing a narcotic substance and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after an arrest at his home.

He remained in custody this morning in lieu of $5,000 bail.

4:34 p.m., Columbia area — Kenneth Marvin Lininger, no address, booked on suspicion of burglary and misdemeanor vandalism after an arrest on Union Hill and Shaws Flat roads.

According to a sheriff's report, a man on Union Hill Road called 911 about 3:15 p.m. to say his neighbor's house was being burglarized. Three deputies arrived in time to see a man, later identified as Lininger, kick out a screen from inside the house and run away. Two deputies chased him, yelling for him to stop.

During the chase, Lininger dropped a knife. Deputies caught him and handcuffed him at gunpoint on Union Hill Road, then put him in the back of a patrol car.

While the deputies were looking for the knife, Lininger was able to get his hands in front of his body while still handcuffed. Lininger kicked out a rear window on the patrol car and ran away.

Deputies caught him again on Shaws Flat Road, a short distance away, and arrested him.

Lininger remains in custody this morning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

11:45 p.m., Tuolumne — Wayne Thomas Nordstrom, 44, and Myrna Evon Nordstrom, 47, both of the 20900 block of Phoenix Lake Road, Sonora, were both booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after an arrest at Black Oak Casino. Wayne Nordstrom was also booked on misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

They were released after posting $10,000 bail.

Douglas Melvin Questo, 49, 17900 block of Seco Street, Jamestown, booked at 8:45 a.m. yesterday after arrest on Seco Street and Preston Lane, Jamestown.

Shawn Robert Coville, 29, 18200 block of Berry Lane, Sonora, booked at 12:35 a.m. today after arrest on Campo Seco Road, Sonora.

Jose Mercado III, 20, 100 block of Dossi Way, Sonora, booked at 2:30 a.m. today after arrest on Stewart Street and North Lyons, Sonora.

11 a.m. assault — A Cassina High School student was stabbed with a pen by another student while the two were at a convenience store on the 300 block of South Washington Street.

11:05 a.m., traffic accident — A woman complained of elbow pain after a car accident on Church and Stewart streets.

12:51 p.m., threats — A Sonora Elementary School administrator said a fourth-grader threatened another student.

6:08 p.m., suspicious circumstances — A woman on the 100 block of East Columbia Way said a woman with short hair was acting strange.

6:20 p.m., assist — A woman said the library drop slot was jammed with returned books and no more could be added.

10:38 p.m., assist — An officer helped with a roof leak on a building on Stockton Road.

12:14 p.m., Copperopolis — A house on Telegraph Road was burglarized and a four-wheeled motorcycle was taken.

12:31 p.m., Glencoe — A caller on the 600 block of Loop Lane said a neighbor came over and tore limbs off a tree.

1:40 p.m., Valley Springs — A woman on the 7000 block of Mitchell Lane saw a horse without a rider run to the end of the street and fall down.

5:53 p.m., Copperopolis — A caller on the 900 block of Sequoia Circle said someone moved into an empty trailer on the property without permission.

7:26 p.m., Murphys — A caller on the 3000 block of Strawberry Hill said a man bitten by a dog was irate and was hitting the dog while carrying it by one leg.
